Parcours

Après l’obtention à Poitiers d’une Maîtrise de Physique en 1981 (mention Très Bien), j’ai intégré sur titre cette même année l’École Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace à Toulouse dont je suis sorti ingénieur diplômé en 1983 (Option Énergétique et Propulsion). Après une année de service militaire au sein de l’Armée de l’Air, j’ai alors démarré à Poitiers à la fin de 1984 mon travail de thèse (BDI CNRS) au laboratoire d’énergétique et de détonique de l’Ensma. Mon sujet concernait le développement d’un programme de calcul devant combiner une approche de discrétisation des équations RANS compressibles de type Beam-Warming avec une modélisation au second ordre de la combustion en écoulement turbulent prémélangé en régime de flammelette. Après avoir soutenu ce travail à l’Université de Poitiers en juin 1988 (mention Très Honorable), j'ai rejoint fin 1988 le Département d’Ingénierie de l’Université de Cambridge (GB) en tant que « Research Assistant » pour une durée initialement prévue de quatre ans. Mon thème de recherche y était l’allumage des systèmes réactifs turbulents en condition non-prémélangée. Ayant été admis l’année suivante au concours CR2 du CNRS soit après seulement dix mois passés à Cambridge, j’ai rejoint en octobre 1989 le Laboratoire d’Énergétique et de Détonique de Poitiers (URA 193 CNRS) devenu ensuite le Laboratoire de Combustion et de Détonique (UPR 9028 CNRS). J'ai  entamé en mars 2004 un processus de mobilité au sein du CNRS qui m'a conduit à rejoindre au début de 2005 le Laboratoire de Mathématiques et de leurs Applications de Pau (UMR 5142 CNRS-Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour). La localisation de cette unité au sein d'un bassin d'emploi qui abritait en particulier l'un des acteurs majeurs dans le domaine de la propulsion aéronautique, à savoir le motoriste Turbomeca avec lequel j'entretenais depuis plusieurs années des relations suivies de coopération (notamment dans le cadre des programmes européens auxquels j’ai participé), fût un atout incontestable.

Responsabilités

Habilité à diriger les recherches en 1999 et inscrit sur les listes de qualification aux fonctions de Professeur des universités de 2000 à 2012, j’ai progressivement assumé différentes tâches d’intérêt collectif, de responsabilité administrative et d’animation scientifique parmi lesquelles je distinguerai plus particulièrement la participation à différentes instances représentatives des composantes et établissements dont je dépendais (Conseils de laboratoire du LCD et du LMAP, conseil scientifique de l’Ensma à Poitiers et de l’IPRA à Pau, commission de spécialistes 62e de l’Université de Poitiers, entre autres), la fonction de Directeur-Adjoint du Centre d’Études Aérodynamiques et Thermiques de l’Université de Poitiers, la responsabilité de trésorier du groupement français de combustion (GFC) de 2003 à 2006, la création et la direction de l’équipe Inria Cagire de 2011 à 2019, ou la participation assidue en tant que membre nommé aux différentes sessions du comité d’évaluation et d’orientation du département DEFA de l’Onera sur la période 2007-2011. Enfin, je n’ai pas négligé la formation continue, puisque j’ai suivi la formation d’ACMO, me suis formé aux techniques de spectroscopie à Lille ainsi qu’aux programmes de calcul AVBP (Cerfacs) et Yales2 (Coria) et suis qualifié depuis 2013 comme « Personne compétente en sécurité laser en milieu industriel et de recherche », ce qui m’a permis notamment de réaliser des mesures PIV sur des injecteurs kérosène sur le site de Turbomeca à Bordes (64).

Encadrement

J’ai encadré ou co-encadré jusqu'à présent une soixantaine d’élèves et d’étudiants qui se répartissent en : enseignement secondaire (4), premier cycle du supérieur (12), deuxième cycle du supérieur (12), troisième cycle du supérieur (32) répartis en 17 DEA/Master 2 (dont 12 en co-direction) et 15 thèses de doctorat d’Université (dont 7 en co-direction) et post-doc (4).

  • 2018-2021 - Projet Ecos-Sud Argentine avec l'université nationale de Córdoba (UNC). Objectif: étude numérique et expérimentale de l’écoulement du vent autour de réservoirs de combustible liquide (Co-responsable: Prof. S. Elaskar, UNC).

Projets achevés

  • 2016-2020 - Programme européen SOPRANO "Soot Processes and Radiation in Aeronautical inNOvative combustors". Objectif : étude paramétrique par simulation RANS de l’écoulement et du transfert thermique sur des parois multi-perforées. Destination des fonds : une année de post-doc (démarrage 2018). Co-responsable : Dr. R. Manceau (CNRS).  www.soprano-h2020.eu
  • 2015-2018 - Conseil Régional Aquitaine + GDTECH (Bureau d’études à Bordes) + ADIndustrie-MMP (PME à Gurmençon). Objectif : développement d’une méthodologie efficace du calcul des pertes de charge dans les injecteurs de moteurs aéronautiques . Destination des fonds : une année de post-doc (Yann Moguen). Résultats obtenus : mise en évidence par simulation RANS de la sensibilité des coefficients de perte de charge et de décharge à la présence d’un chanfrein sur la face amont d’un diaphragme. Co-responsable : Dr. R. Manceau (CNRS).
  • 2012-2015 - Conseil Général 64.  Objectif : Simulations d’écoulements pariétaux génériques à bas nombre de Mach pour l’amélioration du refroidissement des chambres de combustion : développement et mise en œuvre de schémas DG adaptés. Destination des fonds : paiement de la bourse de thèse de Simon Delmas. Le complément provient du programme européen IMPACT-AE dont le responsable dans l’équipe Cagire était Vincent Perrier. Résultats obtenus : schéma de flux bas Mach. Premières DNS avec la librairie AeroSol d’un jet en écoulement transverse avec et sans giration. Thèse de Simon Delmas soutenue le 16 décembre 2015. Co-responsable : Dr. V. Perrier (Inria).
  • *2013-2014 - CDAPP. Objectif : Constitution d’une base de données expérimentales sur le banc d’essai MAVERIC pour le test de simulation instationnaire de type LES/DNS.Destination des fonds : paiement d’un post-doc d’un an. Le complément provenant du CNRS (Reliquat contrat Turbomeca) et de l’IPRA. Résultats obtenus : comparaison sur Maveric entre résultats de traitement PIV par CPU et GPU. Mesure PIV 2C spécifiques pour nourrir un générateur de turbulence synthétique.
  • *2010-2013 – Turbomeca (Contrat d’accompagnement de la thèse Cifre de J.-L. Florenciano) Objectif : étude de la réponse d’un écoulement sur une paroi multi-perforée à la présence d’un forçage acoustique. Destination des fonds : petits équipements pour Maveric, missions, jouvence LDV. Résultats obtenus : thèse soutenue en juillet 2013.
  • *2012-2013 – Turbomeca Objectif : étude de faisabilité et caractérisation expérimentale par PIV du champ aérodynamique et particulaire d’injecteurs de turbine d’hélicoptère. Chaque année, j’ai déplacé pour deux semaines un système PIV chez Turbomeca afin de déterminer si des mesures PIV étaient réalisables sur leur injecteurs kérosène. Résultats obtenus : Champs de vitesses sur différents injecteurs alimentés en kérosène ou pas. Comparaison encourageantes avec les résultats obtenus par ailleurs avec le programme Yales2 du Coria. 
  • 2012-2013 - Conseil Régional Aquitaine. Objectif : Simulation numérique directe d’un jet en écoulement turbulent transverse à bas nombre de Mach : développement de conditions aux limites adaptées. Destination des fonds : paiement d’un an de post-doc de Yann Moguen. Le complément provient du programme européen IMPACT-AE dont le responsable dans l’équipe est Vincent Perrier et avec qui j’ai encadré cette année de post-doc. Résultats obtenus : un module C++ pour la génération de turbulence synthétiqueintégré dans la librairie AeroSol développée dans Cagire. Co-responsable : Dr. V. Perrier (Inria).
  • 2011 - GDF-SUEZ. Objectif : étude bibliographique des jets supersoniques fortement sous détendus. Résultats obtenus : un rapport (confidentiel) de 206 pages. Co-responsables : Dr. E. Franquet (UPPA) et Dr. V. Perrier (Inria).
  • *2009-2013 - Programme européen KIAI  “Knowledge for ignition, acoustics and instabilities.” Objectif: fourniture de données expérimentales pour la validation de simulations LES. Destination des fonds: équipement du banc Maveric avec un système de forçage acoustique. Résultats obtenus : base de données de vitesse et de visualisation par tomographie laser dans des configurations avec et sans forçage acoustique. Banc Maveric version V2 (=V1 + système de forçage acoustique).
  • *2005-2007 - Turbomeca. Objectif : accompagnement de la thèse sur financement Cifre d’Aurélien Most. Destination des fonds : petits équipements pour Maveric, missions. Résultats obtenus : thèse soutenue en décembre 2007.
  • *2005-2007 - CRA+CG64 +Turbomeca +UPPA. Objectif : élaboration  d’outils de modélisation, de calcul et de moyens d’essai avancés pour le développement des moteurs aéronautiques futurs à nuisances réduites.  Destination des fonds : achat d’équipement et sous-traitance de fabrication. Résultats obtenus : banc Maveric version V1 + PIV basse fréquence 2C /3C opérationnels. Validation de simulations RANS.
  • *2006-2007 - CDAPP. Objectif : contrôle d’erreur par adaptation de maillage avec OpenFoam  Destination des fonds : un an depost-doc (P.D. N’Guyen). Résultats obtenus Tests sur la configuration Maveric et sur un T de mélange. Comparaisons avec des résultats expérimentaux de l’ONERA. Comparaison avec une approche éléments finis DG.
  • *2008-2009 - CG64. Objectif : « Caractérisation par fluorescence induite par laser sur le banc d’essai MAVERIC du mélange entre l’écoulement principal et l’écoulement de refroidissement injecté à travers une paroi multi-perforée représentative de celle utilisée dans les chambres de combustion des moteurs aéronautiques.  Destination des fonds : achat d’un intensificateur de lumière pour caméra CCD d’images, module logiciel PLIF, mesureur d’énergie, jouvence LDV. Résultats obtenus : mise en place du matériel et analyse des conditions de la fluorescence sur un traceur moléculaire. Compte-tenu des contraintes en termes de sécurité, les tests sur Maveric en version plaque multi-perforée ont dû être reportés sine die.
  • *2001-2005 – Programme européen MOLECULES. “Modelling low-emission combustors using large-eddy simulations” Objectif: analyse physique d’écoulements turbulents réactifs parfaitement prémélangé ou à richessevariable à iso-puissance. Destination des fonds: équipement pour le banc ORACLES, missions. Résultats obtenus: base de données de vitesse et d’extinction pauvre pour la validation de simulations numériques, LES en particulier.
  • 2003-2004 – Snecma. Développement de conditions aux limites instationnaires adaptées à des écoulements multi-entrées en présence d’instabilités de combustion. Co-responsable : Dr. J.-M. Most (CNRS). Destination des fonds : installation d’un tronçon transparent sur la veine d’alimentation du banc ORACLES. Résultats obtenus : une veine modifiée.
  • *2001-2003XIIe CPER Région Poitou-Charente. Objectif: acquisition d’équipements pour l’équipe Combustion et Turbulence que je dirigeais alors. Destination des fonds : Cluster 48 procs + laser à colorant et baie d’analyse de gaz pour l’équipe Combustion et Turbulence du LCD.
  • 2001-2002EADS-Airbus. Objectif : Assistance aux essais (Bourges), étude et modélisation d’une flamme torche. Résultats obtenus : trois rapports (confidentiels). Co-responsable : Dr. J.-L. Champion (CNRS).
  • 1996-1999 – Brite Euram LES4LPP “Large-eddy simulations for lean premixed prevapourized combustors” Objectif: réalisation expérimentale d’une zone de combustion turbulente prémélangée stabilisée par un élargissement brusque et analyse physique. Destination des fonds: construction du banc d’essai ORACLES et sa métrologie de contrôle. Résultats obtenus : banc d’essai ORACLES et installation de sa métrologie. Base de données de vitesse, de température et de visualisation par fluorescence OH. Co-responsable : Dr. B. Deshaies (CNRS).
  • 1992-1995 - Ministère de la Défense (DRET 91-050). Objectif: réalisation expérimentale d’une zone de combustion turbulente prémélangée stabilisée par un accroche-flamme et analyse physique. Destination des fonds : construction du banc d’essai de combustion prémélangée stabilisée par un obstacle et de sa métrologieRésultats obtenus : Construction dubanc d’essai et installation de sa métrologie. Base de données de vitesse et de température pour diverses formes d’obstacle et de taux de blocage. Co-responsable : Dr. M. Champion (CNRS).
  • 1993-1996 - Ministère de la Défense (DRET 90-135). Objectif: modélisation et simulation d’un jet de monergol.Destination des fonds : financement de la thèse de B.
